The Garden

Polly’s Sensory Garden can be found nestled within a forested portion of UNC Charlotte’s Botanical Gardens, adjacent to a stream, yet fully accessible via stone and brick paths. The Garden’s design engages and stimulates all the senses through plantings and interactive elements. The magical space is contemplative and peaceful, yet, at the same time, colorful, whimsical, and fun, in keeping with Polly’s spirit. It is a welcoming, therapeutic environment designed for all, regardless of ability. This garden is a wonderful celebration of Polly who attended UNC Charlotte’s Cato College of Education, and was studying to be a Special Education teacher.

At the Garden and on this site, we seek to honor inclusivity, diversity, accessibility and of course, kindness. Our thoughtfully designed pathways ensure that everyone, regardless of their physical abilities, can enjoy the serenity and enchantment of our space. At Polly’s Sensory Garden we strive to curate meaningful experiences, lift up creativity and recognize the impermanence and renewal that is life itself. Our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship is evident in every aspect of the garden, from the native plant species that thrive in our soil to the eco-friendly practices that shape our daily operations.  A link to a map to the Garden and nearby parking can be found here. We look forward to seeing you there.
